On 13th February 1797, Captain Parry, on board HMS Standard, at anchor in the River Humber, wrote to the Mayor of Hull to tell him that the Standard and 2 other men of war had been given the duty of protecting the town.
On 13th February 1832, famous violinist Niccolo Paganini gave a concert in Hull (venue unknown to author).
