7th May is the Feast Day of St John of Beverley, once the focus of pilgrimage, a source of prosperity for Beverley, and one of the great saints of the North.
In the 17th century, this week saw the Restoration of the Monarchy.
In the 18th century, Yorkshire people were emigrating in numbers to escape religious persecution and in hope of a better life.
In 1926, the General Strike continued, with police clashing with strikers in Hull.
In WW2, this week saw massive air raids on Hull and the surrounding area, with great loss of life, of housing, and damage to docks and businesses.
